Friends of Ballarat CIC Horse Trials running on 10th and 11th May 2014.
Entries are now open on nominate.com.au. Riders looking for a qualification for EV Interschools Nationals in Eventing should enter this event. All Event riders wanting a CIC qualification run in the lead up to Melbourne International Horse Trials 2014 should put Ballarat into their competition schedule. It's a great lead up to Melbourne with the same Cross Country Course designer Ewan Kellett and a parkland track which varies each year and provides an enjoyable competition experience for both horse and rider. Enter early to avoid disappointment as the event numbers are capped and places traditionally fill quickly. The committee thank the eventing communities encouragement to run an international event and looks forward to riders ongoing support , now that we have taken the plunge and graduated to CIC classes!!!

COMPETITORS PLEASE NOTE:
Vic Roads has advised that from 11pm Saturday 1st March until 8 am Sunday 2nd March the Westgate Freeway will be closed between Williamstown Rd and the Western Ring Rd.
There will be an Air Show that will have a flying display that will run from about 10am to 3pm on both days with larger and noisier jet aircraft in the afternoon. Our flying display plan has aircraft operating south and east of the Pt Cook area coming no closer than 3 nautical miles (approx
5klm) from the NEC and this should provide some noise protection. The level of noise unfortunately is unfortunately very dependant on the weather. If the wind is northerly and the sky is clear the noise impact will be minimal.
If however the day is overcast and the wind is from the south the noise impact could be more significant.
There is also an extensive traffic management plan created to manage traffic issues and all of the air show public traffic will be entering Pt Cook via Aviation rd. The main entry and Exit will be via Duncan's Rd M1 interchange. This intersection will be manned with traffic marshals and entry into and out of K road will hence be orderly and not significantly impact NEC traffic.

Equestrian Victoria Fire Relief and Support Package
As we are all aware we have had some of the worst fire conditions for many years. Many people have been impacted on severely, with some losing homes, stock, fencing and injury to stock also being a significant factor.
Equestrian Victoria is working with other equestrian groups in the state, principally HRCAV, Pony Club Victoria and individual clubs who have all come to the view that providing a coordinated approach to assistance, either by way of donated funds, donation of goods or the volunteering of time to assist people with a re build of property and equestrian grounds impacted on by the fires is the best way to go.
A bank account has been established being the Equestrian Victoria Fire Relief Fund. Donations can be made by depositing to the account at National Australia Bank Werribee. Bsb No 083961 Acc Number 84 250 4766. All donations will be treated as confidential unless otherwise specified.
These funds will be used solely for the provision of goods for those impacted on.
Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre at 170 K Road,Werribee will be a collection point for anyone wishing to donate goods for the fire victims. We have spoken with vets in the area and the preferred goods to be provided are Head stalls, lead ropes, bandages, skin crèmes, gauze wrapping and water buckets. Goods can be deliver anytime from now please note only equestrian based supplies.
We will liase with our current sponsors so that any additional goods can be purchased, unless donated, at concessional rates.
In relation to those wishing to volunteer for assistance in any rebuilding works, they can email email@example.com we will collate the names and provide these to the two local shires being the Mitchell Shire Council and also the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
It was felt by offering a coordinated approach was the best way forward and we greatly appreciate the assistance provided by our fellow equestrian organisations so that we can provide assistance to those in the equestrian world seeking our support and assistance now.
Please monitor the respective web sites and facebook pages of the organisations for any updates, and if anyone has further enquiry or offers of assistance please feel free to contact me directly at Equestrian Victoria on (03) 9013 0707 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

2014 Equestrian Victoria Show Horse State Titles
ENTRIES HAVE RE OPENED FOR 2014 EV Show Horse State Titles
EV Show Horse State Titles – Entries Re-open due to rule change
We wish to advise all competitors that due to a rule change made by the National Show Horse Committee late last year that entries for the 2014 EV Show Horse State Titles have now been re-opened until Wednesday 5th March.
The rules that have changed are as follows:-
Rule 4.2 will change to the following:
Horses must be registered with Equestrian Australia Ltd and owned or leased by a current financial member of that State and registration papers be in the name of the owner or lease at the time of entry.
Rule 4.7 will change to the following:
Horses/Ponies must be domiciled in that State (including where appropriate within a 100 km radius of a border) for a total period of 3 months immediately preceding the date of that State’s Horse of the Year event. However, if the horse has not competed under saddle (with the exception of horse racing) in any state prior to purchase and is registered and eligible/qualified in the state in which it is to compete by closing date of entries it shall be eligible to compete in that respective state’s Horse of the Year event.
These changes mean that your horse or pony IS NOT required to be registered 3 months prior to the State Titles as stipulated in our event schedule, however MUST have been domiciled for 3 months prior.
As long as your horse or pony has been domiciled for 3 months and IS currently registered, you are able to enter.

Victorian Dressage Squads Announced.
Recently Dressage Victoria established a committee to determine a criteria for selection for the Victorian Dressage Squads for 2013 - 2014 year, we recently listed a provisional list and called for riders to submit scores to be considered for eligibility. This has now led to us being able to provide the final list
The first part of the criteria was that all National Squad horses would automatically be accepted into the squad at Elite, A Level, Futures and Young Rider. The National Squad horses have not all been announced at this point and will be added when known. Also noting that a number of horses were selected for the Futures Squad at the Talent Identification Day in late 2012 and they are included in the list below. We also advise that Pony Dressage Horses were eligible for selection to the squad under the same criteria as set out below.
For all Para Dressage Riders it was agreed that the selection would be undertaken by Julia Battams, as National Coach and these rider combinations will be annouced as soon as possible.
The criteria agreed to for the Elite and A Squad was for three scores in the proceeding 12 months to the 30th June 2013 for the following levels: GP 63% and above, PSG 65% and above and Inter 2 62% and above with no age restrictions on horses.
The criteria agreed to for Future Squad was for three scores in the proceeding 12 months to the 30th June 2013 for the following levels: Nov/Elem 70% and above, Med/Adv 69% and above.
The criteria agreed to for Young Riders Squad was for three scores in the proceeding 12 months to the 30th June 2013 for the following levels:
We are also pleased to announce that the State Coach for the Victorian State Squad will be Lone Jorgensen.
The final list and the level at which they have achieved their scores are listed below and we congratulate you all.
Elite and A Squad
Participants should take note that eligibility of the squad both current and future is based on combination therefore any changes to the combination will see them ineligible for the squad. The new combination will then be required to achieve eligible score based on current eligibility.
Future dates for clinics and additional information will be published very shortly with squad days to be conducted at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre over two days
