2018 PIERRE DE COUBERTIN AWARDS AND ACADEMY

Equestrian Victoria is calling for nominations for the 2018 Pierre De Coubertin Awards and Academy.

An initiative of the Australian Olympic Committee and named after the founder of the Modern Olympic Games, the Pierre de Coubertin Award recognises students who demonstrate academic excellence and sporting prowess whilst exemplifying the Olympic values. Each award recipient must participate in sport and display the Olympic values, in particular, good sportsmanship.

The award acknowledges Year 10, 11 and 12 students who, although may not be an elite athlete, demonstrate the values of the Olympic Movement in sport and their everyday lives.

Each year, State Sporting Associations, such as Equestrian Victoria, are invited to nominate:

1. one athlete to receive the Pierre de Coubertin Award and to take part in the annual Olympic Academy, and
2. an additional two sport leaders, from years 10, 11 or 12 to attend the full day program as our sport representatives.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our young riders.
