Trans Tasman Challenge February 2018

This weekend a strong team of Jumping Victorians will be competing in New Zealand in the Trans Tasman Challenge.

Coached by Brook Dobbin, the team consists of:

JOEL PEARCE

Age: 20

Current Horses
Rockford Park Aristrocrat  & I Reckon

Riding Highlights
I have been lucky enough to represent Victoria on a number of occasions, it is always a thrill to ride for your State and compete against our rivals, NSW and QLD. However, most recently I was honoured to receive the Young Rider Ambassador award for 2016. 
 
What are you currently doing and what are your plans for the next 12 months? 
I'm about to begin studying my Certificate IV in Equine Dentistry which will take around 18 months.

MAX HEIGHT

Age: 19                                                        

Current Horses:
Snow Hawk (7 yr old ClydieX), American Eagle (8 yr old TB), Valid (5 yr old WB that we bred), Snow Fox ( 4 yr old WB)

Riding Highlights:

  • I am the current Victorian Showjumping Young Ambassador of the Year.
  • Bringing my horse Snow Hawk from jumping 75cm to the junior finals of the ASJC in 2015 and competing in young rider classes this season.
  • Representing Victoria in the ASJC, SA and trans-Tasman Championships.
  • Riding my 4-year-old at DJWTS to 5th place overall

What are you currently doing and what are your plans for the next 12 months? 
Working for Sam Williams Equestrian building horse trucks, and training my own horses. I will be studying a Business Degree at Monash University.

BINNI GREIG

Age: 19

Riding Highlights:
I am 19 years old and have grown up riding horses, originally competing in both showjumping and eventing, only to pursue showjumping when I moved off to boarding school at 14. 

What are currently doing and what are your plans for the next 12 months?
Since finishing school a year ago, I have spent my break riding and competing at Grand Prix level, and will now be commencing the study of Biomedicine at university this coming year.

DARCY WADE

Age: 17

Current Horses:
Wondaree Ruped (11yo Sporthorse), Westley Maximillian (11yo OTT TB), Miss Delfyne (OTT TB)

Riding Highlights:

  • Representing Victoria & Junior Team Captain for Trans-Tasman Challenge
  • Major places in Junior classes at Sydney Royal
  • Captaining the Victorian State Interschool Equestrian team at the Australian Championships.
  • Bringing my horse Miss Delfyne on from never having jumped to 1.10-1.15 classes in 2018.

What are you currently doing and what are your plans for the next 12 months? 
I am currently completing Year 12 at school and working a casual job and representing Australia competing Internationally in Modern Pentathlon. Over the next 12 months, I plan to complete school and compete in Junior & Young Rider Showjumping Classes at some major shows.
