Development Jumping Squads

JUNIOR AND YOUNG RIDER VICTORIAN DEVELOPMENT SQUAD 

AIMS:

  • Development of show jumping skills
  • Consolidate competition confidence (eg. warm up approaches, techniques with course walking and course analysis etc)
  • Education of show jumping etiquette, rules and standards
  • Increase knowledge of horse management in relation to horse care, nutrition, fitness and overall wellbeing of the competition horse
  • Expand show jumping connections and strengthen friendships.
  • Development of rider physical fitness/strength techniques for equine competitiono Goal setting for competition and development with coaches

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Competing at EA events /competitions but at a height under 115cm
  • Emphasis still at interschool or PCV level competitions
  • Building experience at major competitions (interschool state and nationals, ASJC etc)o Possibly receiving regular coaching, however less likely to receive coaching at events

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD FORMAT:

 

  • Development Squad 1 - 1.10m – 1.20m
  • Development Squad 2 -1.00m – 1.10m
  • Development Squad 3 -0.80m – 1.00m (experienced)
  • Development Squad 4 -0.80m – 1.00m (less experienced)

DEVELOPMENT SQUAD MEMBER REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be current financial members of EA and are eligible to participate as squad members until December of the year in which they turn 21 years old.

Participation fee is $200 per weekend inclusive of GST - venue facility fees and camping are additional charges. Participation fee includes 3 riding lessons, guest speakers, training with Sports Psychologist, goal development support with coaches, breakfast Sunday morning, additional horses may be accommodated if numbers permit at a separate fee. Minimum attendance required to 3 out of 4 training weekends. (Additional October Squad training/Show optional)

Riders must agree to fully participate in funded squad activities as per signed Squad agreement

Successful applicants will receive a letter of acceptance and a medical form to complete and return.

Each Squad will be posted as an event online and you will be required to book online to confirm your attendance and payment. Bookings will cut off 1 week prior to training weekend.

  • 27 – 28 April at WPNEC
  • 25 – 26 May at WPNEC
  • 06 – 07 July at Tatura Park
  • 03 – 04 August at WPNEC
  • 05 / 06 October with Training Saturday / Squad Show Sunday with coaches
