Show Horse Victoria | June 2016

Show Horse Victoria

It’s been a busy few months for Show Horse in Victoria; once again we take this time of year to reflect over the past few busy months and events, we look at what worked, what didn’t and we look at how we can better ourselves and the events, investing time into areas that need improvement and explore new avenues for Show Horse. The committee is utilizing this quiet time to also tackle a few issues that are ‘outside the box’.

NATIONAL SHOW HORSE RULES

The Show Horse committee in Victoria have been leading the charge Nationally to have our EA National Show Horse Rules revamped and ratified. We have made huge progress and we look forward to having a draft ready for the National Show Horse committee’s consideration in the next few weeks. We hope that these new rules will allow for easier interpretation by using simplistic, relevant, consistent and precise language, we want anyone to be able to pick up the National rules and be able to have a solid concept and understanding.

DISQUALIFICATION AND BAN ADOPTION BETWEEN GOVERNING SHOW HORSE BODIES

The Show Horse committee in Victoria have been lobbying to commence negotiations nationally with other Show Horse governing bodies. The committee wants to bring these bodies together and work out a document similar to a memorandum of understanding that would enable “ACROSS THE BOARD BANS’ for doping, horse abuse, bullying etc

For example:  You are banned for twelve months and cannot compete in EA competitions but can compete in all other non EA competitions including various HOTY and Royal Shows; with this agreement, once you have a ban you will not be able to compete in any competitions run by governing bodies that are a part of the agreement.

This is not an overnight processes and will take time, we have to start in Victoria but we are happy lead the way for this to eventually happen in every state, we want our members to know that we are doing our very best to clean up our sport and we will consistently lobby to provide everyone the chance to compete on a fair and level playing field.

SHOW HORSE CLINICS

The Show Horse committee has done a lot of work to try and provide members with more value for money. We have provided additional tuition and showing opportunities as a way of saying thank you to our loyal members who have supported us through the challenges and changes.

We are offering two complimentary clinics where members will be given a free lesson with only a WPNEC facility fee applicable. These clinics will be on a ‘first in first served’ basis and numbers will be capped to a maximum of three riders per lesson. These clinics will also offer a mock show where riders will have the opportunity to put their horses in a show environment and practice as if competing - only without the hustle and bustle, giving the horse a ‘pleasant’ experience and outing (great for newcomers or nervous nellies).

JUDGES' SEMINAR

The judges' seminar will be held at WPNEC on Saturday the 16 July, and we have a great round-up of presentations which we believe will be very informative, relevant and interesting. 2016 is our year of recruitment, we are welcoming and inviting new people who would like to become an official EA Show Horse judge to find out more.

SHOW HORSE AWARDS

The Equestrian Victoria Board has approved ‘Show Horse’ awards to be announced and presented at our annual awards night. This is great for our sport and it will be great to see some of our past and present horses and riders being recognised and acknowledged for their greatness or dedication to our sport.

The Equestrian Victoria Show Horse committee always welcomes constructive feedback. Please feel free at any time to send through an email to Mitch Fox and we will happily table your suggestions at our next meeting.
