VALE MALCOLM ANSELL

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Malcolm Ansell.

Inducted into the Equestrian Victoria Hall of Fame in 2017, there are few people better known in the horse world than Malcolm Ansell. He was one of the finest producers of young riders and of horses and ponies for the last 50 years. Malcolm rode, owned or produced hundreds of Royal Show winners, several Garryowen winners, taught top class young riders and continued to do so.

Malcolm started producing show horses in his early 20s and possibly not many of his show ring friends would know, that early on, he was also a very competitive showjumping rider. His love of a beautiful horse sent him in the direction of finding show horses and ponies for himself and others and hundreds of winning show animals passed through his stables.

Malcolm always gained great pleasure from the ongoing success of his former pupils and especially that of Maree Tomkinson.

His huge contribution to the careers of so many will never be forgotten.

The Equestrian Victoria board, staff and members express their heartfelt sympathies to Malcolm’s loved ones.
