Additional Statement from EV re Hendra

The Board of Equestrian Victoria has received feedback that our position and subsequent voting at the Equestrian Australia Extraordinary General Meeting has been misunderstood.

The position within Equestrian Australia and the State bodies as of the date of the meeting, was that there is currently no mandatory vaccination policy as the Bylaw was already repealed prior to the EA Special General Meeting.

  • We believe that the motion put forward at the EGM reflected frustration by many at the way EA developed and adopted the Hendra by-law in the first place as it could not affect the current position given the repeal had occurred.

Equestrian Victoria is actively working with Equestrian Australia to ensure that going forward all EA members have their real concerns heard, and we believe EA has taken the message on-board with conviction

We look forward to seeing the evidence presented following the conclusion of the Hendra Review Panel and working with Equestrian Australia and all the states and their members to consider its findings, and map out what the path forward for the future Hendra policy may be.

Equestrian Victoria, remain strongly opposed to mandatory Vaccination for Hendra.
