Chairman's Update

Bernard Saundry has been appointed by the Board of Equestrian Victoria to provide executive services to the organisation.

Derek O'Leary has stepped out of the interim EV CEO role this month after being appointed CEO of Diving Victoria.

The Board of Equestrian Victoria would like to thank Derek for his tremendous contribution as both a board member and later as Interim CEO and wish him well in his new venture.

Bernard Saundry has been actively involved in the racing, sports and entertainment sectors for more than 35 years. He held the role of Chief Executive Officer at Racing Victoria, the peak body for thoroughbred horse racing in Victoria, from December 2012 to December 2016.

Bernard's career commenced with the Moonee Valley Racing Club where he worked up until 1993 learning and developing skills in all areas of the thoroughbred racing business. In 1993 he was appointed to the role of CEO with Harness Racing Victoria and in 2001 he was appointed CEO of the Western Bulldogs Football Club in the AFL. Since late 2002 Bernard worked with Racing Victoria in a range of executive roles including Chief Operating Officer for four years before being appointed CEO.

Bernard will provide executive services to EV and assist with the CEO recruitment process and strategic development.
