Equestrian Victoria announces changes at Board

At its meeting of 30 January, the Equestrian Victoria (EV) unanimously endorsed Carl Parkin as Chair of the EV Board, following the resignation of Mitch Fox. Carl assumes the chairmanship following a year as Vice Chair in support of both Mitch and Peter Dunne.

In addressing the EV Board, Mitch said that "the chairman's role requires a great deal of time and dedication. Due to both a change in my personal circumstances and extensive Show Horse responsibilities, both locally and nationally, I recognise that I am not currently in a position to meet these requirements at this time.

I have enjoyed my time in this role and thank the Board for their support and look forward to supporting Carl as he takes the reins".

The EV Board has been unanimous in their thanks and support of Mitch and thanked him for his efforts. Equally, compliments have flowed from interstate with one state chair stating that: "I would like to thank you for all your work and the support you have given ours and other states. Our Board has very complimentary things to say about you and how you have worked with us all to further Equestrian sport at a national and interstate level.

It is good that all the states can work together to improve the management of the sport for all our members and focus on the bigger picture and long-term future of the sport and we hope we can continue to work with you on the National Discipline committees".

Mitch will continue as Chair of the Equestrian Victoria Show Horse Discipline Committee and will continue to serve on the EV Board as he has for the last for 4 years.

Mr Parkin, a senior executive with Ford Australia, has been involved in equestrian sport for over 2 decades and is a FEI Accredited Technical Delegate for Eventing with extensive grassroots involvement. Mr Parkin stated that "I would thank and recognise Mitch for his continued service and am honoured to be selected to lead the EV Board. We are very much a united team and I look forward to working with my fellow directors and the management team to take EV forward," he said.

The Board also welcomes Michelle Heagney to the position of Vice Chair.
