EV announces Interim CEO and other appointments

The Board of Equestrian Victoria (EV) today announced the appointment of Derek O'Leary as Interim CEO and a number of other Board and staff appointments.

EV Chair, Ingrid Green said, "The Board has decided to appoint an interim CEO to bring stability and leadership to the EV office while the search for a new CEO continues".

"Derek O'Leary brings strong experience in business management, finance and IT, as well as a sound understanding of the equestrian industry".

"We have received a number of applications for the CEO position, which we are processing. In the meantime we are grateful to Derek for stepping into this role at short notice."

Derek will commence immediately and will step down from his positions on the EV and Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (WPNEC) boards while he remains in the role.

EV also announced a number of other appointments to strengthen its resources:

  • Nicholas Ott was appointed in March as a Board Director. Nick is a specialist industrial commercial property consultant whose experience in large-scale commercial developments will be valuable in driving the management and redevelopment of WPNEC (see separate announcement). Nick is also Chair of the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Series (VEIS) and the Joint VEIS/EV Interschools Committee.
  • Corinne Wilson has been appointed as part time Digital Communications Manager, to drive digital communications for EV including the website, social media, publications and sponsorship. Corinne's appointment is funded by a grant under the Victorian Government's 'Supporting Victorian Sport & Recreation' funding program.
  • Bridget Croagh has been appointed as part time Coordinator for Eventing Victoria. Bridget is an experienced eventer and equestrian administrator.
  • Rebecca Willis has been appointed as part time Coordinator for Dressage Victoria. Rebecca has extensive experience in equestrian administration, riding and coaching.
  • Nina Lewis was appointed the part time Coordinator for Jumping Victoria in January. Nina has extensive experience in showjumping competition, coaching and administration. She is also an equine studies educator and examiner.
  • Jacqueline Feinberg, a sports and marketing intern from ANU, has been helping Eventing Victoria in the lead up to Saddleworld Melbourne 3 Day Event, including introducing the very popular "My Melbourne Moments" campaign.

"These appointments will improve our ability to operate Equestrian Victoria effectively and provide a better level of support to EV members, clubs and other equestrian participants," Ingrid said.

Other resourcing initiatives by EV include:

  • The finance and reporting functions for EV have been outsourced to Sports Accounting Australia, to ensure that EV's financial data is maintained and its performance is reported in a timely manner.
  • The proposed appointment of Billings + Ellis Pty Ltd as EV's auditors. A General Meeting of EV members has been called for Monday 13 June at 4pm at WPNEC (Old Admin Building) for this purpose.
