Success for State SJ Teams in SA

Team Competition

The Victorian junior team consisted of two debutant riders Bronte Hutchison and Courtney Bell along with team Captain Chloe Dennison. The first round saw Courtney and Chloe jumping two clear rounds, and Bronte having the first fence, finishing with 4 faults.

The South Australian team finished with a total of 16 faults after round one. Coming into round two, the young Victorian team had a 12 fault advantage. Chloe and Bronte both jumped clear, with Courtney having an unfortunate 4 faults. This left the Victorian team winners over the two rounds of competition. Chloe Dennison then went on to win the South Australian Junior State Title. Well done to Chloe.

The Young Rider team consisted of Courtney Shears, Max Height, Jasmine Dennison and Joel Pearce. The new format teams event was put into place with Max Height as the reserve rider for round one of competition. Joel was the first rider with 4 faults followed by Jasmine, who unluckily had the last fence down and Courtney finishing on 8 faults. After day one, the Young Rider team sat on 16 faults behind South Australia who finished on 12.

Day two saw Max Height coming into the team replacing Courtney Shears. Jasmine jumped the only clear round of the competition while Max and Joel both finished on 4 faults each. Unfortunately for South Australia, they had a rider eliminated which saved the victory for our Victorian Young Riders.

The senior team consisted of Paul Brent, Jess Barton and Suzannah Willis. Paul was first out in round one jumping a fantastic clear round. The next to go was Jess who had the first fence down and then Susan who jumped a great round but unfortunately finished with 1 time fault for a team total of 5 faults.

South Australia finished with a total of 25 faults, leaving the Victorian Seniors with a comfortable lead heading into day two. Paul and Jess jumped two great rounds in the John Bruggeman Grand Prix (Round Two). It was left up to Susan Willis to seal the win. Not having the best start to her round with a refusal at fence one, Susan was able to gather herself and finish her round well, leaving the Victorians victorious.

I would just like to thank all riders for making the journey to Adelaide – it is always a big commitment. To Paul Brent for assisting the Young Riders through their course walks and Jasmine Dennison for walking with the Junior riders.
