REASON for NOMINATING

I nominated in 2018 as I was keen to give back to a sport that has provided both myself and my family with such wonderful opportunities. I have now been on the EV board for the past year, and believe I have made valuable contributions. Some of these have been;

  • Established a framework for a director skills matrix, which then enabled the board to be informed on our skills gaps, so EV could then appoint other board members with the right skills and equestrian experience.
  • Raised the use of sub-committees at our strategic planning day and then have them come to fruition, these are Finance, Risk, & Audit (FRAC), and a Marketing & fundraising sub-committee, with strategic goals of increasing sponsorship from new and different companies to support the delivery and development of our sports.
  • I have also fulfilled the role as deputy chair, and had some experience as the acting Chairperson. I believe that supporting Siobhan Belmore and I to be re-elected to the EV board will provide ongoing stability to a board team that is starting to reach its potential.

I continue to have the appropriate board experience to actively contribute to the success of EV in a business and commercial sense, whilst never forgetting that we are there to serve our members and at times the broader equestrian community. Our participation in a variety of the EV sports and my strong corporate governance experience along with a commitment to listen to our members will ensure that I can continue to be an effective contributor to the board and the sport

EQUESTRIAN EXPERIENCE

I have ridden or been involved with horses most of my life. As a young rider I evented up to what is now called 2 star level or Novice as it was then called and when 2/3DE still had roads and tracks and steeple chase (showing my age!). Now as a Mum of 3 girls we are involved in Dressage and Jumping, with some show horse from participating in our local Ag shows. The girls support the Interschool's competing at the EV and VEIS events and my older daughter Rosie has been in the Victorian team for the past 3 years. Rosie's passion is dressage so we have been competing at a number of official dressage competitions, whilst Mietta is the show jumper, and wants to do Eventing when she gets more capable. The girls also ride at pony club. Personally I thoroughly enjoy encouraging and supporting the girls to ride and experience all the benefits and self-development that comes with owing, riding and caring for horses.

I would appreciate your support in having the opportunity to continue my contribution to the board of EV as a team player for the future success, growth and development of our sport and facilities.
