EOI Invited for EV Board Vacancy - Finance & Audit Committee

Equestrian Victoria (EV) invites applications from eligible individuals who wish to be considered for an Appointed Director position from June 2019 for an initial one (1) term (to be determined and subject to extension at mutual agreement). 

Nominations are invited specifically from candidates who have the finance experience necessary to act as Chair of our Finance & Audit Committee - being: 

  • Degree qualified in accounting, economics or finance with significant experience in a professional or corporate role; and
  • Ability to analyse key financial statements; critically assess financial viability and performance; contribute to strategic financial planning; oversee budgets and the efficient use of resources; and oversee funding arrangements and accountability.

Specific sport sector knowledge and experience, preferably with prior operational or Non-Executive Director (NED) expertise with Not-for-Profit (NFP) membership structures.

The recognised governing body for equestrian sport in Victoria, EV aims to “Provide leadership and pathways to enable all participants to live their equestrian dream”

Equestrian Victoria is a non-profit organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act of Victoria and is responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of equestrian sport. It comprises of individual members, affiliated clubs, life members, coaches and officials. Equestrian Victoria embraces the eight horse sports of:

  • Dressage (an International and Olympic Sport)
  • Eventing (an International and Olympic Sport)
  • Show Horse (a National Sport)
  • Show Jumping (an International and Olympic Sport)
  • Interschool (a National School Sport)
  • Para-Equestrian (An International and Olympic Sport)
  • Carriage Driving (an International Sport)
  • Vaulting (an International Sport)

Equestrian Victoria has a commitment to securing and maintaining a Board that has a balanced set of skills to represent its members and their interests and as an organisation is committed to good corporate governance. Knowledge of and/or connections with equestrian sport or other relevant sport experience preferred.

Candidates should possess the following personal attributes:

  • A commitment to high standards of governance and integrity
  • Well-developed strategic thinking capabilities and ability to contribute to the effective decision making of the board
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach
  • The preparedness to ask questions and challenge management and peer Directors in a constructive and appropriate way about key issues
  • Capacity to leverage professional networks to promote and grow Equestrian Victoria by creating opportunities for both financial and other support
  • The ability to work as part of a team, and demonstrate the passion and time to make a genuine and active contribution to the Board

For 2019 it should be noted that Board meetings are scheduled for (in most cases) the third Wednesday evening of each month. Dates for conflict checking are available on request.
