Investing in our young riders

EQUESTRIAN VICTORIA'S INTERSCHOOL COMMITTMENT

It is with great pleasure that we announce Equestrian Victoria’s commitment establish a Victorian Interschool Committee, including establishing a Director appointment to the EV Board to act as chair of the Interschool Committee.

The EV Board considered the findings of the research jointly conducted by the Victorian Equestrian Interschool Series (VEIS) and Equestrian Victoria into The Structure and Delivery of Interschool Equestrian Sport in Victoria, undertaken over the past 10 months.  The review collected and analysed feedback from stakeholders across the sport through meetings, online surveys and in-person focus groups and looked at data relating to the habits, lifestyle and demographics of the Interschool community.

“We see the opportunity for more people enjoying high quality Interschool events as a priority here in Victoria. It is Equestrian Victoria’s role to support and build on the existing Equestrian Interschool Program and to ensure that we can deliver to both the needs and expectations of our Interschool community” said Board Chair, Carl Parkin.

“By creating a dedicated committee, with strong oversight and support from the EV Board, management and working with the VEIS, we can provide more and better opportunities for participation for young riders to build their skills and have fun competing, through a structured model of delivery.”

The new committee will be charged with the oversight of interschool events including, but not limited to: Policies and Procedures, Standards, Rules, Safety, Accreditation, Scoring, Disputes and Selection.

“As we begin the first task of developing a Terms of Reference for the committee, we will also be seeking to appoint a new Director to the EV Board,” said Mr Parkin.

“Members of the EV Board hold a position of trust to act in the best interests of the association, our members and stakeholders.  As an office holder, Directors must undertake their responsibilities with a degree of care and diligence, enhance discussions by actively offering questions and comments that add value, and uphold confidentiality in all matters relating to the Board.”
