JUMPING VICTORIA AGM 2020

The 2020 Jumping Victoria Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held last night (8 March) at the Equestrian Victoria Boardroom with members and club representatives in attendance both in person and online via Zoom.

Deferred from November 2020 due to COVID, Jumping Victoria Chair, Clint Rose, reported on the activities across the 2019/20 financial year and Equestrian Victoria CEO Matthew Brown provided a financial report.

The JV AGM Meeting papers are available on the EV website at: https://www.vic.equestrian.org.au/news/jumping-victoria-2021-agm

The meeting was also scheduled to elect new positions including:

  • Officials’ Representative – 1 Expression of Interest received
  • Riders’ Representative – 3 Expressions of Interest received
  • Clubs’ Representative – 3 Expressions of Interest received

As there was only one expression of interest for the Officials Representative, Kevin Taranto was duly appointed to this position.

The Riders’ Representative position has traditionally been elected by participating riders at the Jumping Victoria State Titles and it is our intention to continue this tradition at the event in late April/early May. Exactly how that is completed in the COVID environment will be communicated to members prior to the event.

The Clubs’ Representative – the Equestrian Victoria Sport Discipline (SDC) Bylaws do not currently clearly articulate how this position, and others, are elected. This was identified by the Equestrian Victoria Board last year and a review of the SDC Bylaws (last updated in 2010) has commenced, the goal being that updated, fit for purpose rules are in place for SDC AGMs in November. In the interim however, the EV board will discuss the suggestions made last night and determine a process for election of the Jumping Clubs’ Representative at its meeting in March.

Thank you to all who participated in last nights AGM and who continue to support the development of jumping in Victoria.

CLINT ROSE
Chair, Jumping Victoria.
