LEADER EQUINE INTERSCHOOL EQUESTRIAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE

24 March 2020

Equestrian Victoria (EV) is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members and our community. This is paramount to everything we do and as an organisation we continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation around Coronavirus (Covid-19) on a daily basis.

As you will be aware, on Friday 13 March, EV communicated the cancellation of PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars and Jumping Victoria State Titles.

At the same time, we advised that we expected to be able to communicate a decision regarding the Leader Equine Victorian Interschool Equestrian State Championships
(2–6 April 2020) in the very near future.

Earlier this week the Victorian government advised that additional measures were being implemented to arrest the spread of the virus. The Premier has flagged that this is the first stage of the shutdown of non-essential activities and that sporting organisations should be prepared for further shutdowns and restrictions to be implemented over the coming weeks.

While we had hoped to be able to postpone the event to a later date, this latest update means that we must now formally advise that the event has been cancelled, until further notice, and that participants will receive a full refund, less any processing fees paid.

We know you will be disappointed but, in the event we can reschedule the event to a date later in the year, this will be widely communicated and entries reopened.

For now our priority is to refund our members as quickly as possible, but, as we are sure you can appreciate, there have been widespread cancellations of sporting events across the country. As a result, given the volume of refunds being processed, it is expected that refunds for the Leader Equine Interschool Equestrian State Championships will take up to 3 weeks to process. We ask that you stay patient as we work through the refund process.

In the meantime, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our membership and broader community for their continued support and take the opportunity to encourage our community to practice good hygiene, self-isolate and stay safe.

Equestrian sport in Victoria is in a strong position with a focus on continual improvement for great experiences.  We look forward to once again having the opportunity to deliver wonderful events where our interschool community has the opportunity to live their equestrian dream.
