Show Horse Victoria - October Report

EV Showhorse is pleased to report on the meeting conducted remotely on the evening of Tuesday 20th October.
This report was purposely delayed in the anticipation of some lifting of our travel restrictions which would enable us to advise you of the conduct of some show horse activities. Although that was not forthcoming on Sunday as expected, some good news was received today ( Monday ) and now we are in a position to update you on what we have planned.

A SHOW.........AT LAST!
The Spring Show, although now inappropriately named, will be conducted at Werribee Park on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November.
The show may be conducted on a restricted basis as the requirements to adhere to COVID-19 Safe rules are quite onerous and will require great cooperation between organisers and participants.
A schedule will be published shortly, as will the COVID-19 requirements for competitors to enable this show to be held.

MEASURING
The impending removal of travel restrictions will now enable us to hold measuring days.
We are currently working with the availability of measurers and WPNEC and will advise you of dates within the week.
We anticipate commencing mid November.

2020 EGO SUNSENSE NATIONALS
We are still awaiting direction from the EASHC to announce the dates for this event. Although I advised in our last meeting report that we would be able to inform you with this report, unfortunately that confirmation has not been forthcoming. We will advise you as soon as the EASHC allows us to do so.

BARASTOC
The schedule for Barastoc has been completed and will be made available early next week.
Thank you to those sponsors who are supporting the 2021 event. We are delighted to welcome back our regular supporters  Barastoc, Mal Byrne Saddlery, Mt Eliza Community Bank, Horsezone, Payne Family, Hann’s Horse Transport, Julie Wilson Photography, Racing Victoria, MJSH Caravans and Future Farms and we particularly welcome our new event partners, Top Flight Lodge, Tamara Lee, ND Australia, Heads To Tails Horseware, Oxley Outfitters, Whitehorse Equestrian and  Romsey Park.
Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

CLINICS
A successful regional clinic was conducted at Elcho Park, Lara on Saturday 17th October.  35 riders attended under instructors GItte Donvig and Holly Cutler.
The clinic was conducted under COVID-19 compliance and I thank the participants for their co-operation in complying to those conditions.

SUMMER SHOW
With the proposed removal of the regional border restrictions, we are feeling more confident that this popular show will be able to proceed. Please watch for updates on the EV Showhorse FB page.

JUDGES
8 judges have either been upgraded or added to the EA Judges Panel.
Thank you to those who have responded to our request to improve our Victorian panel.
We are still in the process of refining a list of potential judges to be approached and invited to join the panel.
If you think you have the credentials to be an EA Showhorse judge, please  don’t wait to be asked to be included. We need new life on our panel - volunteering to do so would be appreciated. Remember, without accredited judges, major shows throughout Australia cannot proceed.

EV AWARDS
The co-ordinator of the EV Awards has advised that due to COVID-19 disruption, the announcement of the awards has been delayed. However we understand these will be forthcoming later this week or early next week.

YOUNG AMBASSADOR AWARD
Although the format for selection of the Young Ambassadors had to be changed this year, the process to choose the winner has been as diligent as usual by our Showhorse selectors Sarah O’Connor and Helen Heagney.
Congratulations to all the young riders who nominated for this award, especially those selected for the top 10.
In the Showhorse section we were pleased to announce the three finalists are Jessica Dertell, Hannah Bufton and Charlotte Oberin.
The winner of this prestigious award will be announced very shortly.

“ AN EVENING WITH......”
An informative zoom discussion with successful riders Kim Durante, Michael Christie, Ava Halloran and Margot Haynes was conducted on the evening of Thursday 8th October. Participants from interstate and New Zealand joined Victorian viewers to engage in the evening.

STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION
Peta Plozza and Fiona McIntyre represented your committee at a very constructive EV Board Strategic Session on 30th September. All EV disciplines were represented with input intended to assist  EV in their forward planning and strategic policies.

COVID-19 SAFE RETURN TO PLAY
EV has arranged for Georgia Stayches, a specialist in events and communication to address our committee to prepare us for the COVID Safe requirements to enable us to return to conducting events. I was fortunate to attend a session earlier  with EV staff and found it very informative and enlightening which gave us all a clearer path forward for our events.

We are excited about our forthcoming activities and look forward to seeing you all back participating in what you enjoy.
Because of the extra resources needed to run events under COVID-19 regulations we will  be calling on more volunteers to assist the committee. Your support to enable us to support you is going to be appreciated.
