Show Horse Update 16 April

I hope this update finds you all well and that your horses have been helping your sanity in these difficult times.

Your committee met remotely on Tuesday 14th April and whilst nothing can be concluded from a time point of view due to the obvious uncertainty prevailing at present, we did discuss some alternate plans for previously scheduled events.

Firstly the Nationals.

The best scenario of course would be to be able conduct these at the scheduled date of 3-5 December. However apart from the required relaxing of Government socialising restrictions, those states which have not yet conducted their state titles need time for those to happen. If they are able to do so but at later dates than normal, we may be able to run the Nationals at our scheduled date, if necessary on an improvised scale. Alternatively we have sourced later available dates in January should we need to delay the event until then.

Your committee is pleased to advise that the RAS has agreed to accept current EA measurements at the Royal Melbourne Show. This will certainly ease the pressure for those competing at the show. Now we all have fingers crossed that Melbourne Show will proceed!

Judges Seminar.

Details and presenters for this seminar on Sunday 17th July are proceeding on the optimistic hope that we may be able to conduct this seminar. We are also considering a remote session of presenters should it become impractical to conduct a physical event.

Your committee is also very mindful of the cancellation of many major shows with the likelihood that a number of agricultural shows may also be cancelled. If it becomes necessary, we have considered the possibility of EV conducting more qualifying shows in a concentrated time. However this only a consideration at this stage and we will monitor progress as the year proceeds.

As with many businesses, some staff at EV will be working reduced hours/days over the current period. You can be assured that they will attend to your questions as soon as possible although we ask for your patience if that is not spontaneous.

Keep well and stay safe.
