Youth Dressage Championships will not require qualification for 2021

The Victorian Youth Dressage Championships will be held at the Boneo Park Equestrian Centre over four days in January (14th to 17th), the week before the Boneo Summer Dressage Championships. This much anticipated event, for riders aged up to 25 years of age, will feature its regular full program of FEI and EA championship competitions, as well as participation and interschool competitions.

Good news for young dressage riders in Victoria. Dressage Victoria has decided that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the effect it has had on the competition year, qualifications will not be necessary for the Victorian Youth Dressage Championships in 2021.

“We hope this will be a great moral boost for our young dressage riders and we thank Dressage Victoria for their flexibility,” said Karen Lawrence, Director for the event. “With the long break in the competition season, and now with our young riders preparing for the end of the school year, we think it’s only fair that we waive the qualification requirements for this year to allow as many athletes to compete as possible.”

“At this stage we are planning for the event to proceed in a Covid Safe manner and every precaution will be taken to ensure the safety of all. 2020 has been a tough year but we hope to get 2021 started in the right way with a great event for our young riders to be able to prove themselves at all levels of competition and have some fun along the way,” said Karen.
